Artrese Ziglar is a native of Forsyth County and graduated from Parkland High School. After attending college at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and graduating from North Carolina Central University School of Law (with honors), Artrese returned to her home of Forsyth County to begin her career of public service as an Assistant Public Defender with the Forsyth County Public Defender’s Office.

She is frequently asked to speak at our local North Carolina law schools and enjoys engaging with students in both undergraduate and law school programs.

She has served as past Vice President and Board Member of the Forsyth County Criminal Defense Trial Lawyers Association and past Treasurer of the Winston-Salem Bar Association. She is currently an Executive Board Member of the Forsyth County Bar Association.

Community involvement is important to Artrese. Since high school, she has always remained faithfully engaged in community service. At present, she is a member of The Dream Center Board of Directors. Artrese regularly volunteers with various non-profit groups seeking to help those who have fallen on hard times and to work for the betterment of our community. Since childhood, Artrese has attended Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with her family.

Artrese has a deep love for her family who have always surrounded her with unconditional love and support. She enjoys spending time with them and her two dogs: Kai and Niko.

Why I'm Running

Why I'm Running

I have always had a passion for helping others and the law. My dedication to both is why I am a proud public servant and will continue to do so for the people of Forsyth County.

For the last 16 years, I have worked as an Assistant Public Defender, ensuring that my clients’ rights are upheld in District and Superior Courts. This work has been incredibly meaningful to me as I have been able to help thousands of residents of Forsyth County in an individual capacity. I am seeking the office of District Court Judge because I want to serve the entire Forsyth community, in both civil and criminal courts. As your next District Court Judge, my goals in every case will be to make sure the law is applied correctly, treat everyone who appears before the Court fairly, and ensure everyone receives their day in court.
